Before you attempt to find a way to stop a stress headache you needto make sure you actually have a stress headache. A headache may becaused by a number of different factors including but not limited tostress. It is important to distinquish between the causes of a headache because the procedure, technique or relief of a specific type ofheadache may not relieve another. Some of the most common causes of headaches are.
Allergic reactions Bright lights, loud noises, and certain odors or perfumes lack of water Changes in sleep patterns Smoking or exposure to smoke Skipping meals Alcohol Menstrual cycle fluctuations, birth control pills Foods containing tyramine (red wine, aged cheese, smoked fish, chicken livers, figs, and some beans), monosodium glutamate (MSG), or nitrates (like bacon, hot dogs, and salami) Other foods such as chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, avocado, banana, citrus, onions, dairy products, and fermented or pickled foods.
While it may be plain to see that a headache caused by lack of water can generally easily becured by drinking a glass or so of clean fresh water. A headache caused because of a skippedmeal can easily be cured by eating something. If however your headache is truly caused by stress the relief may not be an easy thing to discover. Lets take a look at what stress isand how the body reacts to it to further assist us in identifying a stress headache.
Dictionary.com gives us 3 aspects of a definition of stress crucial to our understanding of a stress headache. They are:
A) Physiology. a specific response by the body to a stimulus, as fear or pain, that disturbs or interferes with the normal physiological equilibrium of an organism.
B) Physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension: Worry over his job and his wife's health put him under a great stress.
C) A situation, occurrence, or factor causing this: The stress of being trapped in the elevator gave him a pounding headache.
Based upon these definitions we can ascertain that a stress headache is generally one that manifests itselfwhen a stressful situation emerges or has been encountered and pondered over a period of time. A stress headache can generally be relived when the situation causing the stress has resolved itself or the individual removes themself from the stressful environment, however this may not always do the trick.
Many people find themselves in a constant state of stress due to the work place, financial or social elements or simply a result of an intense need to complete a project. In this case the best way to relieve a stress headache is to supplement with an organic whole food B vitamin laden tonic. The problem is that most B vitamin products will NOT do the trick because they are synthetic (man made) and not in a format the body can truly recognize and utilize.
In my opinion one of the best options is a product that has organic B vitamins and the adaptogenic herps Rhodiola rosea and Eleuthero Root. These ingredients have been proven in numerous scientific studies to have anti-stress effects. The only formulation I would recommend would be a formulation called DeStressex developed by Dr. Paul Yanick the founder and developer of the Quantum Foods and Quantum Nutrition Movement. DeStressex is a long term solution as well as a short term solution and will provide a number of other benefits aside from stress relief.
